Abstract Textiles Gallery

Textile work lends itself to collage and abstraction. The use of commercial or already manufactured cloth which can be cut and manipulated on a design wall matches the materials with methods perfectly. Contemporary inclusion of such tools as fusible web provide additional support to the time-honored seam and applique stitching. With my textiles, I generally work with my own hand-dyed, hand-painted fabrics. I work almost entirely in series, and I believe that the series depicted together are more meaningful than a mere sum of the parts. I learned my basic art principles with abstract textiles and am grateful that I can continue to work in that mode.
